Kate Middleton Pregnant: The Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William's Journey to Baby
After almost a year-and-a-half of wedded bliss, Kate Middleton and Prince William are expecting their first child together.
On Monday, Clarence House -- the couple's official office -- confirmed that Middleton is pregnant.
“The Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby,” the palace said in a statement. “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news.”
And for many, it comes not a moment too soon.
Ever since the royal couple married in April 2011, scores of royal watchers have been waiting for a baby announcement with bated breath.
"They [Will and Kate] were together a long time [prior to getting married], which is why I think everyone was expecting them to get started on a family pretty quickly," royal expert Victoria Arbiter told Celebuzz's sister site Socialite Life back in May.
Indeed, the public is eagerly anticipating a new royal: Clarence House's official website crashed due to unexpected traffic after the pregnancy announcement.
The couple's romance began in 2001, when Kate and William, now both 30, met while studying at University of St. Andrews in Scotland. That's right: their fairytale romance has been 10 years in the making.
To celebrate the baby news, Celebuzz is taking a look back at Will and Kate's journey -- from their romantic beginnings to Monday's big announcement.
