Gary Goldsmith, the maverick uncle of Kate Middletonhas told Celebuzz that he's "delighted" his famous niece and Prince William are expecting their first bundle of joy.

And the British entrepreneur, who is the younger brother of the Duchess' mom Carole Middleton, revealed he actually had a feeling a few days ago that the famous royal couple might have a special announcement to share with royal watchers.

"We are delighted for them both, it's great news," Goldsmith told Celebuzz exclusively via email correspondence.

"And funnily enough, I had a feeling she might be a few days ago and said as much, but it was just a hunch of mind," he revealed.

The world famous couple made the official announcement on Monday, sending fans of the royal family around the globe into a frenzy of excitement.

The 30-year-old mother-to-be was taken to King Edward VII Hospital in central London with acute morning sickness and is expected to be monitored over the coming days.

In a statement on their website, the happy couple said they are "delighted with the news," but royal insiders have revealed that they are "a little nervous" because the pregnancy is in the early stages.

The decision to go public  only came because the princess was taken to the hospital and it is understood that the queen and other members of the royal family were also only informed about the baby news earlier today.

However, both Michael Middleton and his wife knew about their daughter's condition because she fell ill while she was staying at their Berkshire, England, home.

Goldsmith has been criticized by royal observers and the British media for trying to cash-in on being related to the Duchess of Cambridge by promoting his business interest using her as a marketing tool.

Recently, he posted an image on his Twitter page of a man wearing a 'Kate' maskin an effort to plug his new recruitment business called Mint.

A message with the picture says: "Kate or not Kate that is the question! He added: "It's obviously not Kate else she would be doing the Mint-bot/wearing the T-shirt."

Several pictures on the social media page show people in t-shirts with the firm's logo -- and the savvy relative seems to allude to his ties with the royal family by using the slogan 'IT IS WHO YOU KNOW' on the business's website.

The wealthy businessman, who has made a fortune in property deals, was a guest at Kate's wedding to her prince at Westminster Abbey last April and they have met several times along with Kate's younger sister Pippa Middleton at the family's country home.

The baby will be Queen Elizabeth II’s third great grandchild. Due to a drastic shift in the rules of succession last year, Prince William and Kate’s first-born will now likely be the heir to the British throne, regardless of the baby’s gender.
