Newt Gingrich will be popping up on NBC’s Parks and Recreation and it was all by accident. The politican happened to run into filming of the comedy while in Indianapolis at the St. Elmo Steak House. According to the Indy Star, Mike Schur, the series co-creator, jumped at the chance to incorporate him into the episode. “It was a completely random chance,” Schur said. “But you can’t pass up on an opportunity like that.” [TV Guide]

ABC’s Castle hit a new series low Monday night without Dancing With the Stars as its lead in, garnering only 8.4 million total viewers and coming in third for the 10 o’clock hour. Its lead in of Extreme Makeover Home Edition averaged only 4.4 million viewers. NBC’s The Voice took top honors in total viewers (12 million) and in the ad-coveted demographic. [TVLine]

Hulu has launched a new show based upon Liz Tigelaar’s book, Pretty Tough. The series, starring Adelaide Kane, Crystal Young and 2 Broke GirlsBeth Behrs, is about two sisters on the opposite side of popularity in the privileged word of Malibu. Pretty Tough is making its exclusive U.S. premiere on Hulu in a 5-episode format. [Hulu]

Downtown Abbey writer Julian Fellows says he has no plans to re-cast the role of Matthew Crawley on the fourth season of the British series. Dan Stevens, who plays Crawley on the show, hasn’t renewed his contract. According to The Daily Mail, he’s planning to only appear in the premiere episode so that he can go after other opportunities.
