Channing Tatum to Take A Break From Acting: A Look Back at His Past Year on The Big Screen (VIDEOS)
Relax, Channing Tatum fans. They don’t call it a “break” for nothing.
This week, the hunky actor told Entertainment Weekly that he will take a small hiatus from acting in 2013 to focus on other projects with his production partner Reid Carolin.
“[We] have about three to four ideas that we love that are all in the hopper,” Tatum, 32, told the magazine.
“We’re going to be like, alright, no more acting parts for a minute, let’s take a few and really get caring about that section of our career.”
Tatum’s announcement comes after a packed year of blockbusters like Magic Mike, the comedy 21 Jump Street and the romantic flick The Vow.
While the former model won’t be producing anything new in front of the camera next year, he still has at least three big films scheduled to open, including the G.I. Joe sequel and the psychological drama, Side Effects.
“I love the steps that I’ve taken acting-wise. That has been a wild sort of exploration,” Tatum said. “But I don’t want to just keep putting [directing] off for these fun and incredible opportunities.”
As Channing Tatum fans prepare for his imminent break from acting, here’s a look back at the five movies that made us laugh, cry and swoon in 2012:
