Jack White Disses Lady Gaga’s Music: ‘You Can’t Sink Your Teeth Into It’
It’s safe to say that Jack White won’t be a devoted Little Monster any time soon.
“I don’t think she lives it because it’s all artifice,” says White, who is also the cover boy of the magazine’s January issue.
“It’s all image with no meaning behind it. You can’t sink your teeth into it. It’s a sound bite. It’s very of-this-age, because that’s what people want.”
White, who officially launched his solo career earlier this year, also sounds off on celebrity culture and Twitter.
“The goal of modern celebrity is to make yourself into the lowest common denominator . . . ‘Hey, I’m a guy just like you. I like a beer, a football game.’ Especially in reality television, you’ll see people will go so far as to make a fool out of themselves just to prove that,” he says.
As for Twitter, White says only comedians should be allowed to voice their opinions, 140 characters at a time.
“Because it’s all about one-liners . . . you don’t want Gore Vidal telling you, ‘I’m doing my dishes right now.’”
White is scheduled to play holiday shows on Dec. 7 and Dec. 9 in Oakland and Los Angeles, respectively.
