Nurse Pranked at Kate Middleton’s London Hospital ‘Commits Suicide’; Palace ‘Deeply Saddened’ by Events (VIDEO)

A nurse who was pranked by two Australian DJs at the London hospital where Kate Middleton was being treated for morning sickness died Friday of an apparent suicide, according to multiple reports.

The nurse, identified as Jacintha Saldanha, was found at an address just around the corner from King Edward VII’s Hospital. Paramedics were called to the scene Friday, but were unable to revive her.

The official cause of death has not been released, though Scotland Yard is treating it as a possible suicide.

Saldanha was the victim of a prank phone call on Wednesday after Mel Greig and Michael Christian of Sydney station 2Day FM called the hospital pretending to be the Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles. She then transferred the call to another nurse, who gave an update on Middleton’s condition, according to TMZ.

In wake of the news, a spokesperson for the Palace said that Prince William and Kate Middleton were “deeply saddened” by Saldanha’s death.

“Their Royal Highnesses were looked after so wonderfully well at all times by everybody at King Edward VII Hospital, and their thoughts and prayers are with Jacintha Saldanha’s family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time,” the spokesperson said.

Middleton was hospitalized on Monday for hyperemesis gravidarum.

She was discharged on Thursday.
