‘Skyfall’ Reclaims Top Spot at Box Office as Sony Pictures Sets New Record
The latest James Bond flick has reclaimed its place at the box office, thanks to another $20.3 million in ticket sales this weekend ($11 million in North America).
The last Sony film to reach Bond proportions was Tobey Maguire’s last Spider-Man film, Spider-Man 3, which grossed some $890 worldwide in 2007.
Stateside, Rise of the Guardians and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 2 rounded out the box office, with $10.5 million and $9.2 million in ticket sales, respectively.
“Nothing demonstrates the powerful word of mouth and outstanding playability on this film better than reclaiming top spot in such a competitive marketplace,” Sony Pictures said on Sunday [via Deadline].Stephen Spielberg’s Lincoln and the big screen adaptation of the bestselling novel Life Of Piraked in $9.1 million and $8.3 million this weekend, respectively.
Gerard Butler’s latest film, Playing For Keeps, opened at No. 6 with $6.1 million.
