It was a Manic Movie Monday, with two of the holiday’s big films rolling out the red carpets.
In the ultimate fashion feat, Naomi Watts managed to upstage Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried’s goth glamour at the New York premiere of Les Miserables, with her floral Zac Posen gown at The Impossible’s L.A. premiere.
Opting for a more romantic glamour, Watts’ purple floral gown was a breath of fresh air compared to the dark glamour Les Mis‘ leading ladies channeled in their black gowns. But the purple print was no less eye-catching.
Though the gown debuted at Zac Posen’s Spring 2013 runway show, the darker purple-and-champagne print works just as well for winter, offering a welcome alternative to the season’s dark jewel tones and neutrals.
Reimagined on a curve-skimming mermaid silhouette with a floaty train and flutter sleeves, Watts’ winter florals were bold without being over-the-top. Watts finished the look with a retro ’20s-inspired updo that showcased her dramatic danglers.
