Jenna Bush Hager Is Pregnant With First Child
Former president George W. Bush's daughter is expecting her first child.
Christmas came early for the Bush family!
Former president George W. Bush's daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, is expecting her first child with husband Henry Hager, the couple announced Wednesday.
"I’m nervous and so excited to say that Henry and I are pregnant, or I am pregnant!" she tearfully said on NBC's Today Show, where she's served as a correspondent since 2009. Her husband strolled onto set with a bouquet of flowers for his pregnant wife.
"We're so excited and obviously nervous about it," Jenna added. "I'm a first-time mom. But it's something that I've always wanted. I'm a teacher and I love kids."
"It's a springtime baby," Henry said, adding that Jenna would "instill wonderful values" in their child.
President Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush joined the chat via phone. "I'm thrilled for Jenna and Henry," the grandmother-to-be gushed, "and, of course, for George and me to have the grandchildren we've been really looking forward to." The baby will make the former president and first lady grandparents for the first time.
Jenna — recently named Editor-at-Large for Southern Living magazine — married Henry, a product specialist at investment firm KKR, in 2008 on the Bush family's 1,600-acre Texas ranch. The couple first met on the campaign trail for President Bush back in 2004.
