Giuliana and Bill Rancic Reveal Son Duke’s Nautical Nursery (PHOTOS)
When baby boy Duke Rancic lays his head to rest, it’s almost as though he’s adrift at sea. That’s because Giuliana and Bill Rancic turned to the blue sea for inspiration in designing their son’s bedroom in their new Los Angeles home.
“Duke’s nursery is one of my favorite rooms in our house,” Giuliana wrote on the Style Network website. “It’s very timeless and inviting. Bill loves the water, so we wanted to go with a nautical theme,” which comes through in the octopus artwork, canoe frame hung from the ceiling, and rope-wrapped lamp.
But the new parents — who welcomed Edward Duke Rancic via gestational surrogate on Aug. 29 — had some professional help in deciding on decor for their tyke. “I worked closely with fab designer Lonni Paul of Petit Nest,” Giuliana noted, sharing that they selected “wallpaper, the crib and decor” together.
“Bill and I, obviously, knew we were going to spend a lot of time in the nursery,” Giuliana added. “So we definitely wanted to make the space as comfortable and cozy as possible.”
PEOPLE. “Bill thought that when [Duke] is older they could mount the end of the crib on the wall.”
And snug seating was a no-brainer. “I love to put a sofa in a baby’s room because I feel like it’s a great place where the family can gather together,” says Paul. “It’s a great place for storytime and a great way for [the baby] to grow with the room.”
