Kate Middleton to Make First Public Appearance at London Awards Show Since Pregnancy Announcement and Hospitalization
Some two weeks after leaving the hospital to treat a severe case of morning sickness, Kate Middleton will attend a sports awards show in London, the palace confirmed on Sunday.
“The Duchess of Cambridge will tonight attend the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards at the ExCel London, where Her Royal Highness will present the Lifetime Achievement and the main Sports Personality of the Year Awards,” a spokesperson from St. James’s Palace said in a statement [via PEOPLE].
“The Duchess will attend the event in response to a longstanding invitation from the BBC.”
Earlier this month, the Duchess was admitted to London’s King Edward VII Hospital for severe nausea related to her pregnancy.
Her husband, Prince William, has since attended a number of events solo, even making jokes about his wife’s ordeal.
“They should call it all day and night sickness. It’s a long old process but she is getting there,” the Duke reportedly said at the annual Winter Whites Gala on Dec. 8.
The royal couple, both 30, are expecting their first child together in the New Year. The Duchess is less than 12 weeks along.
