Gossip Girl went out with a bang Monday night, wrapping up storylines that revolved around our favorite Upper East Siders.

Not only did Blair (Leighton Meester), Chuck (Ed Westwick), Dan (Penn Badgley), Serena (Blake Lively), Nate (Chace Crawford) and all the others live happily ever after, but fans also found out who's been pulling the strings as Gossip Girl for the past six seasons. And they quickly took to the web to voice their opinions.

Note: Spoiler ahead if you haven’t seen the CW show's final episode, “New York, I Love You, XOXO.”

Fans spent the evening discussing the Gossip Girl's identity, and he was a trending topic late into the night. That’s right: Gossip Girl is a HE. The character, voiced by Kristen Bell, was revealed to be none other than Lonely Boy, Dan Humphrey.

    it wasn't; the reason the author created gossip girl on the books was just for narration.

    That's not how it went in the books is it? I read the first half and just don't have time to read anymore. I know the tv show veered very far from the story in the book, but does anyone know if Gossip Girl's identity was ever revealed in the books? If so, who was it?
