Kristen Stewart Confesses to Hiding In Hotel Room 'Rather Than Deal With Everything' During Cheating Scandal With Rupert Sanders (VIDEO)

Kristen Stewart is still reeling from the intense scrutiny and speculation surrounding her scandalous summer affair with married director Rupert Sanders.

In a revealing interview with U.K. newspaper The Sun, the Twilight star detailed her struggles with the negative publicity, admitting to holing up in her hotel room to avoid the backlash from critics and fans.

"I used to just stay in my hotel room rather than deal with everything," she revealed, "But if you get too caught up in what others think, you become a really disjointed person."

In July, news of Stewart's fling with Sanders, whom she worked closely with on Snow White and the Huntsman, broke after they are spotted in a steamy makeout session in Los Angeles. And while the controversy forced Stewart to issue a public apology to boyfriend Robert Pattinson, she admits to her mistakes during the entire ordeal.

"You have to be OK with your own fears," she said. "If you’re an honest person you’ll make mistakes, but that’s when the most interesting things happen."

Since then, Stewart and Pattinson have reconciled, working out their issues in order to promote the final Twilight installment, Breaking Dawn -- Part 2.

"You should never step outside of your life and look at it like it's this malleable thing you can shape so that people view it a certain way," Stewart told the Huffington Post.
