Kristen Stewart Insists She 'Loves People,' Is 'Comfortable With Just Being Unafraid' (PHOTOS)

Despite her infamous sullen reputation -- and not to mention branding herself as a "miserable c***" this past year -- Kristen Stewart insists she's actually quite the people's person.

“I really love people. You can’t not as an actor," she said in the latest issue of V magazine, in which her signature icy stare is featured throughout the the fashion mag's newest photo spread.

 

“I have realized that you can close yourself off to life if you put walls up, but it’s a difficult thing,” Stewart, 22, continued.

“You can’t see over, people can’t see in, and you also can’t see out. So I’ve gotten quite comfortable with just being unafraid. I keep saying the same thing: it’s not about being fearless but really just embracing the fears and using them.”

So what lies ahead for Stewart now that she's wrapped up the last installment of the Twilight saga?

"I am not closed off to anything right now. That is what I was saying about not having any more walls up. I don’t want to deprive myself of any bit of life,” she said.

Stewart, who appears as the rambunctious Marylou in On the Road, says she had troubles identifying with her character in the Jack Kerouac adaptation.

“Until you really get to know the woman behind the character, it’s difficult to connect the dots,” Stewart told the mag. “I’m a contemporary, sensitive, normal girl, and it’s difficult to try and empathize with someone who seems to have a lack of empathy."

"I have never encountered a person that had their nerves so fucking close to the surface.”
