Ryan Seacrest Talks About Kim Kardashian's Pregnancy with Jay Leno: 'I Was Thrilled!' (VIDEO)
The American Idol host also dished on Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey's feud
With good pal Kim Kardashian's baby on the way, Ryan Seacrest has plenty to be excited about.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the American Idol host — and executive producer of Keeping Up with the Kardashians — couldn't help but express his joy, weeks after Kardashian announced she and beau Kanye West are expecting their first child together.
"I was thrilled," he revealed Thursday evening. "I was very happy for them."
Cameras will continue to roll during Kardashian's pregnancy for the upcoming season of the E! reality show, but don't expect Seacrest to make an appearance in the delivery room.
"Now, are you in there with the obstetrician?" Leno inquired.
"Am I going to be in the room, with the zoom lens, shooting all of this to put on the air on E!?" Seacrest responded. "I would not."
And although she's opened her life to viewers on the reality show, the expectant mom isn't planning to document her entire path to motherhood.
"You will see her pregnancy on Keeping Up With the Kardashians," he added, "but she'll be about four and a half months in to her pregnancy once we start shooting for next season."
After all the baby talk, Seacrest and his Idol colleagues, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson, weighed in the upcoming 12th season premiere, and of course, the heated feud between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey.
"It's a happy, dysfunctional family," Jackson explained.
Meanwhile, Seacrest alluded to the singer's blunt personalities. "These two ladies are not stars in their own right because they're shy, so you'll see how not shy they are this season," he added.
As for Urban, he went straight for the diplomatic response: "It's raw. The reason why the four of us, I think, are chosen is because we're very, very different and we disagree on things, we like different things. But the plus side is that, if the four of us unanimously agree on you, it's a magical moment, too."
American Idol premieres on Fox on Jan. 16.
