‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Recap: Can Owen Make Everyone Happy?

'Grey's' Emergency
Adele health affects nearly everyone's love life.
On this episode of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, one nightmare seems to finally be over but in fact could bring about a whole new nightmare, healing has begun for a few doctors and others are learning if they can or cannot be friends.

Note: Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen Thursday’s episode, “The End Is the Beginning Is the End.”

What a day it is for our favorite doctors at Seattle Grace Mercy West. Not only is it the day that they find out about the judgment for the airplane crash, but it’s also the last day of Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) first trimester, the first day of Derek’s (Patrick Dempsey) physical therapy and a whole lot of other stuff, including a patient doing something called vagazzling.

Let’s start out with some of my favorite bits from this episode. First of all, I don’t care how weird or wrong it may be, I am still ecstatic that Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) are back together. On last week’s episode, after all of the divorce talk, I wasn’t positive that they would stay together but they did and all I can say is: Yay!

Then, of course, there is the fact that Meredith FINALLY told her friends that she is pregnant. Don’t get me wrong, I completely understand why she wanted to wait — with all that’s happened and her history of having a hostile uterus and all — but I’m very excited that everyone is in on the secret and can start celebrating for her. Also, how freaking awesome was it that Cristina figured it out before being told? That right there is yet another reason why I adore their friendship.

After my favorite bits, we have the pretty good bits. These are things like the Richard (James Pickens, Jr.) and Catherine (Debbie Allen) story, the Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jo’s (Camilla Luddington) blossoming friendship, the ping-pong-athon between Derek and Jackson (Jesse Williams), and Miranda’s (Chandra Wilson) case. That last one gave us the vagazzled moment, which did very nearly bump it up to a favorite bit, but not quite.

Under the category of so-so bits, I’d have to say Jackson sleeping with a new intern, then telling April (Sarah Drew), who then professed that she still loved him and couldn’t be his friend yet. Go ahead and flame me if you want, but all I could do during that was “yawn.” It just feels like that whole story has gone on long enough. Either put them together or have them both move on.

Finally there is the I-don’t-know-I-feel-about-it bit. This is pretty much everything having to do with the judgment, the money and the final reveal that the hospital would have to go bankrupt in order to pay the victims of the plane crash. Don’t get me wrong, that whole part was played very well and it was a great storyline, but I can’t really call something that sad a favorite. But it was a great new twist to the story, that’s for sure. It makes me wonder, though, how Owen is going to get himself and the hospital out of this one while still keeping everyone happy.

Buzz Moments

OMG!: Jackson’s “Let’s go, bitch!” when Derek started beating his ass at ping-pong.

Thank you, TV gods.: Meredith announcing to her friends at dinner that she was pregnant. Yes! Finally!

Awk-ward: Miranda telling Callie all about her sandy, um, cookie and the sand flea bites on her buttock. Yeah, that’s what I call a crappy honeymoon.

Hotness: Cristina and Owen turning back into horny teenagers and making out all over the hospital.

Fab-u-lous: Jo’s awesome couch for Alex’s living room.

Can. Not. Wait.: To see what happens when everyone finds out that the only way they’re going to get their money is if the hospital shuts down.

So what did you think of “The End is the Beginning is the End”? Do you have any favorite bits or so-so bits of your own? You don’t really think that the hospital is going to have to close its doors, do you?
