Selena Gomez Calls Taylor Swift ‘Inspirational,’ ‘Good-Hearted’

Selena Gomez had nothing but nice things to say about her good friend Taylor Swift at a benefit concert for UNICEF, held Saturday Night in New York City.

“Taylor is one of the most inspirational, positive and good-hearted people that I know,” the 20-year-old singer-actress gushed on the red carpet. “Itʼs incredible that someone can be so successful and so humble.”

“Sheʼs a big part of me staying in line,” she continued. “Itʼs nice to just be able to pick up the phone and be like, ʻI had this person say this, itʼs annoying,ʼ and have someone understand and get what youʼre going through. Itʼs really nice.”

Like Swift, Gomez — who has been an ambassador for UNICEF since she was 17 — is getting over a rough break-up after her romance with Justin Bieber reportedly ended last year.

She loosely referred to the breakup during Saturday’s concert when she sang her own rendition of Justin Timberlake’s ‘Cry Me a River.’

“Iʼve been through a lot the past few months. Itʼs been weird and sad and cool. This song definitely speaks to me,” she told the crowd. (Bieber performed his own version of the song last November.)

But despite her personal setbacks, Gomez — whom Celebuzz spotted arm-in-arm with Josh Hutcherson last week at the Golden Globes — remained upbeat at the event, and reflected positively on her three-year stint with UNICEF.

“When you go and visit the kids they have no idea who you are or what you do,” she told Celebuzz. “Theyʼre just happy that youʼre there and thatʼs the best feeling in the world. No one is expecting anything from you and youʼre just there helping and itʼs such a beautiful thing.”
