The Road to FX’s ‘The Americans’ in 5 Clicks (PHOTOS)

'AHS' S2 Finale
5 things that had us saying, WTF?
After watching FX’s brand new series The Americans, you may begin to look at your neighbors with a different eye. On the outside, it’s a perfect marriage, a perfect family, a perfect suburban life. But, beyond that? They’re also perfect KGB spies.

The drama, set in 1980s Washington, stars Felicity star Keri Russell and Brothers & Sisters’ alum Matthew Rhys whose loyalties to their home intersect with the life they’ve adopted in the U.S.

“This is not just a show about spies in 1981,” Executive Producer Graham Yosttold reporters this week about the show’s emphasis on its main characters.

“They’re put together, they’ve never known each other before they went through training,” he said. “They’re KGB in the early 60s and they’re sent to America and they have to pose like a married couple.”

Of course, that doesn’t mean that the series skimps of what we expect of spy series: Sex, “kickass fights,” and, of course, “espionage.”

But, how does Yost and his team find themselves with an American series whose main characters are KGB spies out to bring down our way of life? It’s quite the trip, apparently, which Celebuzz has reduced to five steps.

The Americans premieres Wednesdays at 10PM on FX.
