Kate Mara Talks 'House of Cards' and Her Love of Netflix
The star also shares advice given to her by little sister Rooney Mara.
When Kate Mara needed some advice while shooting the Netflix series House of Cards, she didnʼt have to look far.
She simply called little sister, Rooney Mara, who's worked with House of Cards executive producer David Fincher on two films, The Social Network and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
“It was challenging [to shoot],” the elder Mara said at the show's premiere party in New York earlier this week. “Because it was a new experience . . . so if I ever felt crappy about what I was doing or I felt like I wasn't performing well I would call her and talk to her about it. Mara, who turns 30 this month, plays political reporter Zoe Barnes.
“I wouldnʼt be a good writer,” she said. “I think too much about what Iʼm writing, it would take me forever and I donʼt follow politics at all!”
“Iʼm obsessed!” she said. “I love it and I think itʼs genius how they make recommendations for you but sometimes it makes me laugh because they put movies on there that I donʼt like and I think, why would you think I would like this movie?ʼ
So has Netflix ever recommend anything starring herself?
“No! That would be kind of fun if they did!”
