Katy Perry and John Mayer Prove That Opposites Do Attract

The couple enjoys a night out on the town

Katy Perry and John Mayer may be dating, but there’s one thing this musical couple can’t agree on: baseball.

The duo was packing plenty of PDA as they held hands during a romantic hike in Los Angeles last Friday — though they were seen sporting rivaling sports gear.

Being a “California Gurl,” 28-year-old Perry was seen rocking an LA Dodgers baseball cap while her 35-year-old beau was seen a New York Yankees hat. (For those who aren’t into baseball, the Dodgers–Yankees rivalry has is one of the most well-know rivalries in Major League Baseball, with the two teams meeting 11 times in the World Series.)

Will this be the wedge that drives this Hollywood couple apart?

Not exactly.

Despite their love for rivaling baseball teams, Perry and Mayer — who have been dating since since August 2012 — are still as strong as ever.

In late January, Perry gushed about her boyfriend in a photo diary for Vogue magazine, writing, “dinner at Plume in the Jefferson hotel with my beau” in a snapshot with Mayer.

The couple was also seen taking in the sights and sound during Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration ceremony that week following their New Year’s vacation in Hawaii.
