Watch: How Jennifer Lawrence Became Hollywood’s Ultimate ‘It’ Girl

HPI #16: Scarlett Johansson
Johansson ranks #16 on our Hollywood Power Index.
She’s one of the most talked-about young actresses in Hollywood today. Which is why Jennifer Lawrence was guaranteed a spot on Celebuzz’s Hollywood Power Index, in which we count down the biggest power-players under 30.

The 22-year-old beauty — who ranked No. 13 on the countdown — first made waves as a poor, white-trash girl from the Ozark Mountains in 2010’s Winter’s Bone. Since then, she’s taken Hollywood by storm in films like X-Men: First Class and House at the End of the Street, and by scorning the leading role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games franchise.

Last month, the quickly rising star was able to add another feather to her cap – despite rumors she was suffering from pneumonia, the actress took the stage at the Screen Actors Guild awards to accept the Best Actress award for her role in Silver Linings Playbook.

“I always felt like I sucked at everything, that I could never find the thing that I liked. I auditioned and I probably sucked, but I had decided 100 percent that this is what I wanted to do,” the actress — who’s also up for an Oscar this year for her Silver Linings performance — said about breaking into Hollywood.

So, what’s next for Hollywood’s “It” girl? Lawrence will team up with her Silver Linings Playbook co-star Bradley Cooper in the upcoming Depression-era film Serena and return to the set of X-Men to reprise her role  as Raven/Mystique in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

This coming November, Hunger Games fans will finally get their fix — Lawrence and company are back for the follow-up film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

What do our experts say about Lawrence’s Hollywood success? Find out the keys to her longevity and what’s next for the star by launching the video above.
