Watch: How Miley Cyrus Went From Disney Princess To Grown-Up Superstar
Ditching her squeaky clean Disney image, the "Party In The U.S.A." singer evolves.
In a mere 12 months, the star has morphed from squeaky clean to downright bad ass. In 2012, the singer traded in her prissy heels for combat boots and drastically chopped her golden brunette locks. With a revamped image and a huge rock on her finger from her movie star fiancé Liam Hemsworth, the future looks pretty bright for the celeb, who ranks No. 10 on Celebuzz's Hollywood Power Index.
While the press focused most of the attention on her new looks and love life last year, the pop singer remained focused on her career. Long hours in the studio working alongside hit maker Pharrell Williams -- who has produced chart-topping songs for big names like Gwen Stefani, Beyoncé, Britney Spears and Madonna -- kept the pop singer's schedule busy.
"I've never really had time to do that, to kind of have my record kind of 'done' and then sit there and make it until it's perfect," the singer told Billboard backstage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in September. "So, it's been really, really fun. This whole year that's all I've really dedicated life to."
The new album will showcase a decidely more "adult" Cyrus. Packed with hip-hop influenced beats, raw vocals and a heavy-handed, dirty-South vibe, Williams says that the tracks are "nowhere near what it is that you think."
Will Cyrus soon join the ranks of legendary divas like Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga?
