Look Back At Hollywood's Best Presidential Performances

Celebrate President's Day by reliving some of the most memorable on-screen POTUS performances.

Happy President's Day!

Every February, Americans join together to commemorate the father of this fair country: George Washington, the inaugural president of the United States. So in honor of this ages-old federal holiday, Celebuzz is celebrating all the leaders of the free world -- Hollywood style.

From David Morse channeling Washington in the award-winning HBO miniseries John Adams, to Josh Brolin's Southern-snarling George W. Bush in W, to Anthony Hopkins's Oscar-nominated turn as John Quincy Adams in Steven Spielberg's Amistad, many on-screen portrayals of the president have left a lasting movie mark.

Then, last year, Daniel Day-Lewis brought Abraham Lincoln to life on the silver screen in Spielberg's acclaimed biopic, Lincoln. Not only is the drama up for 12 Academy Award nominations, including best director for the acclaimed director, but Day-Lewis stands a chance to steamroll his revered competition to snag a record-breaking third Best Actor win at the Feb. 24 ceremony.

Whether or not he takes home the statuette, Lincoln undoubtedly put the spotlight back on presidential politics, as so many Hollywood projects have in the past. So, as you take today to honor Washington and all those who followed his founding footsteps, relive some of the more memorable presidential performances.

Take a gander at the gallery and then tell us: Which is the best portrayal of a president on screen? Sound off in the comments.
