And She Goes Back To Black
Adele returns to her style roots for Oscars following her bright Grammys gown.
Adele is showing her true colors — all black.
After taking a fashion risk with a long-sleeved floral Valentino creation at the Grammy Awards, the singer returned to her signature black with a three-quarter-sleeved, embellished gown from British designer Jenny Packham for the 85th annual Academy Awards on Sunday.
And on the heels of garnering award season love — snagging Best Original Song in a Motion Picture at the Golden Globes — "Skyfall" will vie against some acclaimed contenders for the Best Original Song Oscar: "Before My Time” from Chasing Ice, “Everybody Needs a Best Friend” from Ted, “Pi’s Lullaby” from Life of Pi and “Suddenly” from Les Miserables.
As she wraps up awards season Sunday night, Adele holds onto fond memories of recording her raved-about track. “It was absolutely amazing. I was very pregnant, and I was very emotional,” she told E! at the Globes. “But it was very, very exciting and epic. I felt like Frank Sinatra.”
“But I got convinced,” she continued. “I loved the script. I think [Skyfall director] Sam Mendes was just incredible. And Daniel Craig is a gorgeous Bond. And they’re very serious now, the Bond films. They’re kind of evolving as they’re going on. I kind of wanted to do it — and it was very British.”
