JT + Mumford = Music Magic
Justin Timberlake and Marcus Mumford collaborate for a Coen Brothers movie soundtrack.
From Jay-Z and Beyoncé to Rihanna and Carly Rae Jepsen, Justin Timberlake has teamed up with more than a few superstar singers. And now he's tacking on another name to the list: Mumford & Sons' Marcus Mumford.
The Grammy-winning artists joined forces for the soundtrack of Inside Llewyn Davis, an upcoming Coen Brothers drama in which Timberlake stars alongside Mumford's wife, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman and Garrett Hedlund.
"OK, I can tell you this. There's a Coen Brothers film coming out soon that I was lucky enough to work with Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan," the "Suit & Tie" hit-maker told England's Capital FM.
Along with famed producer T-Bone Burnett and bluegrass band Punch Brothers, the duo laid down an as-of-yet untitled track for the feature film.
"Marcus and myself, we all kind of worked on the music together and I don't know any other world where we would have the opportunity to collaborate like that, but it was so much fun," Timberlake said. "So, not only will that be a great movie, but the music to it will be fantastic."
Apart hitting the recording studio, Timberlake was thrilled to play a part in Inside Llewyn Davis, due out in theaters in December. But the crossover star confessed he feared not meeting the moment.
"I'm obsessed with the Coen Brothers and playing a supporting role in the film was just enough for me to feel like, 'OK, I'm not going to ruin this movie,'" the singer-actor said. "Because they just have a track record of, their movies are impeccable."
In promotion of the much-anticipate album, Timberlake will return to Saturday Night Live for a fifth time, serving as both host and musical guest on March 9. Just two days later, the former N’Sync singer will take over Late Night With Jimmy Fallon during the week of March 11-15, marking the first time a guest has been featured for an entire week.
Then, come summer, the singer will hit the road with his "Suit & Tie" collaborator, Jay-Z, for a 12-city Legends Of The Summer summer stadium tour.
