Sarah Jessica Parker wants to address recent reports that the actress bashed the The CW’s The Carrie Diaries and its star AnnaSophia Robb.

“The quotes are taken out of context,” The Sex and the City star’s rep tells Celebuzz of an interview with Net-a-Porter’s The Edit.

“They were not made with any negative slant or malice.”

According to the interview, Parker addressed The CW’s SATC prequel, calling it or its 19-year-old star “odd” and “one of those tests of your generosity.” It’s unclear as to what Parker was specifically referring to.

The quotes saying Parker slammed the series have been picked up by numerous news outlets, including CNN, HuffingtonPost, and CBS.

At any rate, the story goes against Robb’s own experience. The young star told reporters at the most recent TCA Press Tour that SJP was extremely kind to her after getting the part.

“She sent me a very lovely note just kind of giving me her blessing and encouraging me and telling me how excited she was and how dear the part was to her, and so that was huge for me because, you know, I was obviously nervous,” Robb said.

The 47-year-old also told the magazine that her hit HBO series about four single friends looking for love in NYC laid the building blocks for Girls.

Parker theorized — according to the interview — that had it not been for the wildly successful show, Lena Dunham’s series (which has a very similar premise to SATC, except it takes place in Brooklyn) may have been a mere fantasy.

“I do feel Sex and the City’s success made that possible,” she is quoted as saying. “And it would have been different otherwise.”

Are you glad to hear that SJP didn’t hate on Carrie Diaries and Girls? Weigh in below.
