The chart-blazing boy band is set to be immortalized by Madame Tussauds, the world-famous waxworks museum. The group’s five members — Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson — have been measured from head to toe in preparation for their wax figures, which will launch in April.
And just like their real-life counterparts, the wax likenesses will traverse the globe as part of a traveling exhibit, hopping from London (April 18 – July 11), to New York (July 19 – Oct. 11) to Sydney (Oct. 24 – Jan. 28). Additional dates and locations have yet to be announced.
“I’m just kind of a bit overwhelmed,” Styles said of joining the wax museum’s comprehensive collection of famed figures. “We’ve been to Madame Tussauds and we’ve seen the kind of people who are in there. It’s crazy to think that we will be up there with them.”
Added Payne: “We actually first heard when we were at Madame Tussauds looking at all the figures, so it was even more like, ‘Wow, we’re actually going to get one of these made.’ They’re so amazing — the quality of work that goes on over there is mad.”
While humbled by the honor, Tomlinson expects it to be eerie coming face-to-face with his lookalike. “I think it’s going to be quite weird to look at yourself as a waxwork, but it’s an amazing honor to be there,” he explained. “If you look at some of the names that are there, we are very proud to be up there.”
