Theroux honed his acting skills at prestigious Bennington by taking part in a student production of Translations, a gritty three-act play by Irish playwright Brian Friel. Set in the fictional Irish town of Baile Beag, it explores the consequences when the British Army translate place names from Gaelic into the King’s English.
The dedicated student would go on to graduate in 1993 with a B.A. in Visual Arts and Drama, just one year before his wife-to-be became a household name by appearing as Rachel Green in Friends.
Theroux further increased his stock in Tinseltown by landing roles in films like Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion and Zoolander.
He’s also carved out a career for himself as a successful screenwriter in Hollywood penning such films as Tropic Thunder, Iron Man 2 and Rock of Ages.
“Justin showed of various skills at Bennington College and he was strong at acting, directing and writing, while he was here. And although he comes from a very illustrious family of writers, he has gone on to become very successful in his own right,” said the source.
