Will ‘G.I. Joe’ Sequel Win The Weekend Box Office?
“G.I. Joe: Retaliation” grossed some $15.5 million on Friday, as early estimates have the blockbuster finishing Easter weekend at the $50 million mark.
The summer blockbuster season is still months away, but it looks like G.I. Joe: Retaliation gave moviegoers an early start this weekend.
The sequel to 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra grossed $15.5 million domestically, bringing its two-day total to $26 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter.Tyler Perry’s Temptationmade $9.4 million in ticket sales.
The Host and Olympus Has Fallen round out the top three for Friday estimates.
The first G.I. Joe film grossed $54.7 million domestically in its opening weekend nearly four years ago. The movie went on to make $150 million ($302 million worldwide).
