Cory Monteith In Rehab For Substance Addiction
The 'Glee' star has voluntarily checked himself into an unknown facility, his rep confirmed Sunday.
Glee star Cory Monteith has voluntarily checked himself into a rehab facility for substance addiction, his rep confirmed to PEOPLE late Sunday evening.
"He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery," the rep said.
This is just the latest battle for the 30-year-old actor; in a 2001 interview, also with PEOPLE, Monteith revealed he entered rehab at the age of 19.
In the aftermath of the news, Monteith has received a slew of support from fans and co-stars, including his real-life girlfriend, Lea Michele.
"I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision," Michele, 26, told PEOPLE.
Glee -- which still has two episodes left in production -- will also proceed as scheduled, and address Monteith's absence in the plot of the show, according to Deadline Hollywood.
