Burnell Taylor Explains THAT Kiss With Amber Holcomb

Though Burnell Taylor’s time has ended on American Idol when he was eliminated from the FOX series Thursday night, the singer went out with a bang — planting a goodbye kiss on fellow contestant and rumored love Amber Holcomb after performing his swan song on live TV.

“I wanted to keep it PG,” he told Celebuzz of the smooch after the show.

Though the 19-year-old have kept romance swirling these past weeks, Taylor did admit to us that “a crush only involves one person, so it ain’t a crush” when it comes to his relationship with Holcomb.

Taylor fans were heartbroken to see the New Orleans native struggle to shine through Rock Week — and his failed attempt at Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love A Bad Name” definitely sealed his fate, according to the R&B crooner.

“I knew it all week,” he said, hinting that he knew his time had come long before Ryan Seacrest delivered the bad news.. “I feel like I went out with a bang and I did what I was supposed to do.”

Taylor also revealed he got a visit from judge Nicki Minaj — who hasn’t personally said goodbye to a contestant since Curtis Finch Jr. got the boot — after his elimination.

“She was crying and almost made me cry. I gained so much respect for her in recognizing how much she cares about me,” he said.

Likewise, Idol’s remaining contenders also threw their support for Taylor — and he is loving them right back.

“I love them so much and the fact that they show the same love for me is just special,” he told us. “The place that we’re at right now, we’re all gonna be somebody if we take this opportunity and run with it.”

“Looking back at me, Devin, and Lazaro’s performance of ‘Sugar Pie Honey Bun’ was funny. It was hilarious!” he reminisced, chuckling. “We were upset but we all wanted to laugh like, ‘What are we doing?’ It was hilarious, but I love them.”

However, it won’t be a long goodbye for Taylor — he is due on the road for the Idols Live! Tour once the show wraps.

For now, he is focusing on getting back into his workout routine and developing plans for his solo career.

“There’s power in the treadmill,” he said of his pre-season 40 lbs. weight-loss. “I did it for 90 minutes, two times a day and I’m going home to get right back to it.”

He continued about his future plans, “Only time will tell, but it’s coming … By the time I’m 25, I better have six Grammys. I’m doing everything I can do to keep my name out there.”
