Billy Ray Cyrus: 'I Don't Know' If Miley and Liam's Wedding Will Happen

The 51-year-old singer says his doubts stem from the couple's age.

It seems helicopter father Billy Ray Cyrus has adjusted his landing gear some, telling ABC News that he "doesn't know" whether or not daughter Miley Cyrus and her fiancé Liam Hemsworth will make it down the aisle.

Interviewed about the process of writing his new memoir Hillbilly Heart [ed: Ugh], Papa Cyrus said he was careful not to include too much about the young couple's relationship, in case it didn't work out.

"I know as I was writing the book I wanted to keep that particular moment as open-ended as possible," Billy Ray said. "I didn't know the answer. They're young. They're kids. The great news is, they're great friends. They're really, really good friends. If you end up getting married, that's your business too, you know?"

But don't worry about the erstwhile Hannah Montana's achy breaky heart just yet. Despite rumors to the contrary, Miley claims the two are still very much together.

Cyrus, 20, and Hemsworth, 23, met while filming The Last Song in 2009. Cyrus's father has previously stated she plans to have three weddings, which is exactly what to expect when you let a 20-year-old millionaire plan a wedding.

But will Miley's own Lord of the (Wedding) Rings trilogy actually happen?

"I don't know. I really don't," Billy Ray says. "I play it by ear and I know whatever is meant to be, that's the way it's going to happen."
