Amy Poehler: “I Love You, Boston.”

Matt Russoniello / April 19, 2013

In the new episode of her “Ask Amy” web series, Massachusetts-born actress and comedian Amy Poehler shares some advice for coping with the horrific images we’ve been inundated with this week.

“I’ve been looking at photographs that have been really hard to take,” she says in the video. “I just… I don’t know. It’s been tough, hasn’t it? Doesn’t it feel like we’re just bombarded by stuff now? That everywhere we go, there’s just some picture that’s worse than the one before?”

Throughout the video, an emotional Amy struggles to articulate a perfect solution to the difficult question at hand. But, of course, she eventually manages to share some sage advice:

“I wonder if we could soften our hearts and mind and our eyes. And I wonder if we could give our eyes a break, and maybe try to see things in a different way.”

Well said, Amy. And thank you.
