Watch: Cory Monteith’s Castmates ‘Can’t Wait’ For Him To Return To ‘Glee’
It’s been just over three weeks since the the 30-year-old actor announced he had voluntarily checked himself into rehab for substance addiction -- a decision co-star Jane Lynch is proud he made.Celebuzz while promoting belVita breakfast biscuits last week in The Grove in L.A.
“He did a great thing, he did it for himself, he’s a strong and smart, he’s going to be fine.”
McKinley High’s Sue Sylvester may be known for her sharp one-liners, but all jokes aside, Monteith’s decision to get treatment is something she knows all too well. Lynch, 52, has been sober for 21 years.
“We talk about it," she said.
“He knows he needed to nip it in the bud.”
This is just the latest battle against addiction for Monteith, who revealed in 2011 that he first entered rehab at the age of 19: "I don't want kids to think it's okay to drop out of school and get high, and they'll be famous actors, too," he told PEOPLE in 2011. "But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it."
In recent weeks, Monteith's co-star and off-screen love Lea Michele, 26, has also shown her support: "I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this," she told PEOPLE. "I am grateful and proud he made this decision."
While the rest of the cast have also shown their love:
I am so proud of Cory Monteith and love and support him 100%.
