Did Leonardo DiCaprio Skip ‘The Great Gatsby’ Sydney Premiere for Another Party in Cannes?

One week after The Great Gatsby opened the 66th Cannes Film Festival, Leonardo DiCaprio is still there.

No, he doesn’t have another movie to promote. In true Leo fashion, the 38-year-old bachelor has been partying with bevies of beautiful people. His latest outing — at the De Grisogono bash at Hotel Eden Roc on Tuesday — is turning heads for multiple reasons.

For one, the actor (who looked ever so dapper in a suit jacket with hia hair slicked back), was surrounded by women throughout the night. They were probably models, judging from Leo’s dating history.

While he was partying the night away, his fellow Gatsby co-stars like BFF Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and director Baz Luhrmann hit the red carpet Down Under for the film’s Sydney premiere.

Leo wrote a note:

“My time shooting, living and working in Sydney — with the most amazing Australian cast and crew — was an experience I wont’ forget . . . it was such a great joy to reunite with Baz, who was endlessly inspiring on The Great Gatsby and, most importantly, is a great friend of mine. Unfortunately I am unable to return o Sydney for the film’s Australian premiere due to a schedule change.” [via The Daily Telegraph]

The Telegraph is calling it a “snub,” while the Sunday Morning Herald says his co-stars got to enjoy the spotlight for a change.

C’mon old sport, get your act together.
