The Queen As A Grandmother: 20 Photos Of Her Majesty With William and Harry
Queen Elizabeth will celebrate the 60th anniversary of her coronation this Sunday, which took place at Westminster Abbey one year and four months after her accession to the throne.
Though her duties keep her busy, the Queen makes times for her grandchildren, especially Prince William. During his time at Eton College, William would cross the bridge that connects the historical all-boys school to Windsor for weekly tea with HM.
“My relationship with my grandmother has gone from strength to strength,” William told royal biographer Robert Hardman. “As a shy, younger man it could be harder to talk about weighty matters. It was: ‘This is my grandmother who is the Queen, and these are serious historical subjects.’
“As I’ve got older, she’s become an even more important part of my life, so it’s much easier. And obviously, with the wedding, she was a massive help.”
The Queen will be feted with a Coronation Festival at Buckingham Palace this July.
