‘Fast & Furious 6’ Stays On Top Of Weekend Box Office With $34.5M

Vroom, vroom.

Vin Diesel and the Fast & Furious 6 gang easily drove past box office newcomers this weekend to take top spot, thanks to another $34.5 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film’s domestic total currently stands at $170 million.

Now You See Me had just enough magic to take second place with $28.1 million, while Will and Jaden Smith’s sci-fi flick After Earth opened in third place with $27 million.

After Earth, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, was expected to make a bigger splash at a box office, playing in nearly 500 more theaters than Now You See Me.

FOX’s animated creation Epic enjoyed a healthy weekend, taking in another $16.4 million. Star Trek Into Darkness round out the top five with $16.4 million, bringing its domestic to-date total to $181 million.

On deck for June: Man of Steel and World War Z.
