Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey Team Up in HBO’s ‘True Detective’

Wonder twin accent powers activate! Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey will be synching diction as two Louisiana detectives tracking a serial killer in HBO’s True Detective. It’s the first show greenlit since HBO execs decided all shows should begin with the word “true.”

In all seriousness, from what little the teaser shows, this show looks really exciting. The talent is top tier; Harrelson and McConaughey are joined by Michelle Monaghan and the show is directed by Cary Fukunaga. The show’s first season will jump between 1995 and 2012 as detectives Rust Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Harrelson) try to take down a killer. Should the show be renewed, each season will follow a separate crime spree.

The eight-episode first season is set to air sometime in 2014.
