The ‘S’ Stands for Success: ‘Man of Steel’ Tops Weekend Box Office with $125.1M

Henry Cavill and his superhero charms won the box office this weekend, as Man of Steel grossed some $113.1 million in ticket sales. This brings the film’s four-day total to $125.1 million, thanks to special Thursday night Walmart screenings, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The feat makes director Zack Snyder’s reboot the best movie opening of all time for the month of June, dethroning 2010’s Toy Story 3.

At a distant second was Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s This is The End, starring the lovable cast of James Franco, Jonah Hill, Emma Watson and Danny McBride. The film, which marks Rogen’s directorial debut, took in some $20.5 million, bringing its five-day total to $32.8 million.

Now You See Me, Fast & Furious 6 and The Purge round out the top five.

On deck for June 21: World War Z and Monsters University.
