Britney Spears Promises 'People Will Be Surprised' by Her New Album
A month after the track leaked, Spears' new single "Ooh La La" had its official first play on Ryan Seacrest's radio show on Monday morning.
"It's just about feeling good," the singer explained of the sugary-sweet, pop ditty, which is featured on the soundtrack for The Smurfs 2, which hits theaters July 31.
Now Spears is recording her eighth studio album, which will be executive produced by the Black Eyed Peas' Will.i.am. While it's "definitely in the beginning stages now," Spears said her record will be ready "by the end of the year."
"I want to take this album and have a new approach with it and make it different than anything I’ve ever done," she said, adding that she will be teaming up with Grammy-winning producer William Orbit, who masterminded some of Madonna's most famed hits. "I’ve never worked with him, so I’m really excited."
Though "Ooh La La" is geared toward a Smurfs-aged audience, Spears' new sound will have more of an edge.
"People will be surprised with this album. It will be really different," she continued. "I think the kids will appreciate it, but this music will have more of a cool approach to it."
As for those rumors of a Las Vegas residency, Spears said "it's quite possible" she will be hitting the Sin City stage soon. But added: "Nothing confirmed yet."
