‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Movie Has Found Its Director
Break out your whips and chains (or whatever the hell happens in that goddamn book), because the much-anticipated movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey has finally landed a director.
According to Deadline, the big honor has gone to Sam Taylor-Johnson, who is known primarily for her 2009 debut, Nowhere Boy.
Okay, no. She’s mostly known for her marriage to 23-year-old actor Aaron Johnson, who, ha, was the star of Nowhere Boy. (For the record: Taylor-Johnson is 46.)
Which means the Internet is now going to spend the next few weeks or so assuming that Johnson will play Christian Grey, the sexy entrepreneur who casts a kinky spell on the novel’s unassuming protagonist, Anastasia Steele.
No word yet on when the hell this movie is coming out. In the meantime, here’s a statement from Taylor-Johnson (who apparently used to go by Johnson-Wood? I don’t know):
I’m so excited to be charged with the evolution of Fifty Shades of Grey from page to screen. For the legions of fans, I want to say that I will honor the power of Erika’s book and the characters of Christian and Anastasia. They are under my skin, too.
