Paula Deen and 15 Other Celebrity Apologies
“I want to apologize to everybody for the wrong that I’ve done . . . I want to learn and grow from this,” the 66-year-old said, referring to her admitted history of using the N-word and a deposition hearing last month.
“I was invited this morning to speak with Matt Lauer about a subject hat has been very hurtful for a lot of people,” Deen later said in a second video published to her YouTube account, hours after canceling an appearance on The Today Show.
“And Matt, I have to say, I was physically not able this morning. The pain has been tremendous that I have caused to myself and to others. So, I’m taking this opportunity, now that I’ve pulled myself together and am able to speak, to offer an apology to those I have hurt.”
Deen of course is not the first star to apologize under the spotlight.
There’s Christian Bale’s explanation for his profanity-filled rant on the Terminator: Salvation set, Hugh Grant’s apology for a 1995 arrest for lewd conduct with a prostitute in L.A., and fresh from this past May, Reese Witherspoon’s apology following her arrest in Atlanta.
