'Independence Day 2': Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman Are In

Goldblum and Pullman
Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman are officially confirmed for the Independence Day sequel that's slated for a July, 2015 release.

According to ETOnline, director Roland Emmerich revealed that the actors were on board for the upcoming action flick at a Q&A about White House Down that took place at a New York City Apple Store.

Emmerich already told Complex magazine that Independence Day star Will Smith would not be appearing in the sequel because "he's too expensive."

Though we won't see Will punching out aliens exclaiming "welcome to earth" any time soon, we are looking forward to the return of Pullman and Goldblum.

Pullman played heroic President Thomas J. Whitmore in the 1996 original, and famously delivered the "we will not go quietly into the night!" speech.

If you don't know, now ya know.

Goldblum portrayed wisecracking computer whiz David Levinson.

"We're not doing a total reboot, we're doing something that's totally unusual," Emmerich also told Complex. "I think some aliens will be back."

We're looking to more Independence Day 2 casting news as it continues to roll in.

Your move, Mae Whitman.
