Kerry Washington Slips Into A Swimsuit For Her Vanity Fair Cover
The Scandal star strikes a pose in the pool for the cover shot, working a revealing white cutout swimsuit, slick hair, and red lips.
Kerry talked with the mag about her beloved (and badass) TV character, the smart and sexy "fixer" Olivia Pope, saying, “What I think is cool about Olivia is that she fully owns being a woman. There’s a very nurturing sense of ‘I’m going to take care of you—don’t worry about it. I’m gonna be your mom in this situation. You come stay in my office, have a cup of tea, and let my gladiators take care of you.’ There’s something very maternal about it. But there’s also something very executive about her, and I mean ‘executive’ in a presidential way.”
Kerry also revealed that she honed her acting skills creating and performing sketches as a teen safe-sex advocate.
“We would stay in character after the show, and the audience would interact with us. It taught me the importance of really understanding everything about who you’re playing, because you never knew what question was going to come," Washington explains.
Washington got her start on an ABC Afterschool Special called Magical Makeover (plot: an angel makes a teenage girl popular, but she learns to be herself) back in 1994. We're thrilled to see this lovely lady rocking the cover of Vanity Fair almost 20 years later.
