'The Bridge' Stars Annabeth Gish And Johnny Dowers On What Sets Their New Crime Drama Apart

FX's new series, The Bridge, isn't your typical cop drama.

The show follows an American detective, Sonya Cross (Diane Kruger), and a Mexican detective, Marco Ruiz (Demian Bichir), as they come together to investigate a serial killer who is working on both sides of the border. Marco and Sonya not only face string of murder cases marred by the complications of being on the border (corruption, violence, immigration issues, etc), they also have to deal with each other. Sonya, who has Asperger's Syndrome, has a blunt way of operating that differs from that of her warm, family-oriented colleague, Marco.

Celebuzz had the chance to chat with two of the show's cast members, Annabeth Gish and Johnny Dowers, at Monday's premiere. They chatted with us about their complex characters, what makes the series unique, and what it's like working with leads Kruger and Bichir.

Gish, who has starred on TV shows like The West Wing and The X-Files in the past, plays Charlotte, a wealthy widow whose husband is mysteriously murdered. Dowers is Detective Tim Cooper, a no-nonsense, mullet-headed El Paso cop who has to learn to deal Sonya's off-putting detective style.

Check out what Annabeth and Johnny have to say about The Bridge in the video, above.

The Bridge premieres Wednesday, July 10th at 10 PM on FX.
