If you thought Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s opinions on The View were controversial, get ready for even more debating, arguing and who the hell knows what when actress-turned-autism activist Jenny McCarthy officially joins the daytime talker in the fall. (ABC announced the casting Monday morning, following weeks of rumors.)
Known primarily for her acting, McCarthy has recently become somewhat of a controversial figure in the media after insisting that a vaccination used to prevent diseases like measles, mumps and rubella actually triggered her son Evan’s autism. She’s also said a whole bunch of other stuff, too. Like, you know, this:
I look at autism like a bus accident, and you don’t become cured from a bus accident, but you can recover.
Let me see if I can put this in scientific terms: Think of autism like a fart, and vaccines are the finger you pull to make it happen.
So, clearly she’s going to fit just right in.
The View returns for its 17th season on Sept. 9.
