Jake Gyllenhaal Exits ‘Into the Woods,’ Deprives Us of His Singing Voice

Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal has exited Disney’s Into the Woods due to a scheduling conflict with the just-greenlit NightcrawlerThe Wrap announced late Wednesday. Gyllenhaal was expected to play Rapunzel’s Prince in the movie-musical adaptation, opposite Anna Kendrick, Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep. He’ll now play a “small-time Los Angeles criminal who gets a little too swept up in the nocturnal world of the city’s crime journalism community” in the film from writer-turned-director Dan Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy).
