It looks like no matter how many ways and how many times people ask Kerry Washington about her new marriage, she’s going to keep things as private as possible.
On the same day the Scandal star received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Washington (barely) opened up about her June 24 nuptials with NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha.
“I don’t talk about my personal life in the press, but I will say I’m really happy,” she told PEOPLE on Thursday. “I’m blessed in all areas of my life.”
In the wee hours of Thursday, Washington nabbed her first Primetime Emmy nomination ever while Dan Bucatinsky received the ABC series’ other nomination for his recurring role as Cyrus’ husband James.
With the Emmys scheduled for Sept. 22, you can count on Washington to keep us guessing on just who she’ll bring to the big event.
“I have not decided who will be my date,” she told PEOPLE. “That was my parents’ question this morning! We’ll see.”
