Diane Lane Will Play Hillary Clinton in New NBC Miniseries
Diane Lane is heading to the White House… on the small screen.
On Saturday, NBC announced four new long form projects, including “Hillary,” a four-hour miniseries based on former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Lane will take on the title role, while the role of Bill Clinton has yet to be filled.
According to the network, the miniseries will document Hillary Clinton’s multiple roles as a wife, mother, politician and cabinet member and include her husband serving the second of his two terms as P.O.T.U.S.
NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt noted at Saturday’s Television Critics Association’s summer press tour that the show will most likely air before the real Hillary Clinton announces a possible candidacy for the next presidential race.
“She’s not going to declare her candidacy for two more years so I think it will be the late spring or early summer ’15 that she will declare,” Greenblatt told reporters. [via The Hollywood Reporter].
“This could well have aired before that. We have to talk through all that.”
Other NBC projects announced on Saturday include remakes of Rosemary’s Baby, Stephen King’s Tommyknockers and a Mark Burnett produced limited series called Plymouth.
Diane Lane can currently be seen in the Superman reboot, Man of Steel.
