Shonda Rhimes, the woman behind the ABC juggernauts Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and now Scandal, is taking another pass at War Correspondents. Only this time, it’s headed for the big screen, according to an exclusive report Monday from The Hollywood Reporter.
The project had previously been in development for television (sometime before Grey’s, says THR), but got shelved due to the War in Iraq. It centers around — what else? — a group of butt-kicking female war correspondents, all of whom probably fight injustice through long-winded monologues and sexy affairs with top-rated politicians and all the other crazy stuff that happened on Scandal last season.
Anyway, the real point to this article is the maybe-not-so-shocking discovery that Rhimes, whose career began in the movie biz, wrote the screenplays for Crossroads and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.
Which means she has to cast Britney Spears in this. Has to.
